The Republican B-B- Q and information meeting last Sat. was very good. Rod Brown did a great job with the B-B-Q and the Pot Luck buffet was great as always. It is amazing how many  super good cooks we have in this area. A Pot Luck out here always guarantees a great meal.

Senator Greg Brophy and 63rd Congressional candidate Jon Becker reviewed the ballot issues. There seems to be several reasons to vote ‘no’  on 60, 61 and 101.  Brophy and Becker both recognized some desirable features in each issue  but once again they simply “just go too far”.  They feel the best way to salvage the good while getting rid of the bad is through sensible and reasonable legislation. It is not necessary to kill the good to get rid of some bad.

I think the event was a success --  some good information, got to hear from the candidates, some good questions and answers -- and at least one Democrat attended (but of course, they did not let her eat….)  no, no --just kidding-- everyone was most welcome.

I sat across the table from Lori Shalberg and she was going through some of the candidates advertising material that was displayed on the tables. Lori held up a book of matches promoting Forrest Frazee and said, “I assume this means we have no fire ban going in Kiowa County”.  This made me think about some other political sayings I have heard.

I’m not a great fan of France but  Charles de Gualle did have a quote that we should relate to, “In order to become the Master, the Politician poses as the Servant!”                  And this one pretty well sums it up, “There are too many Democrat Congressmen… there are too many Republican Congressmen… there are not enough U.S. Congressmen.”
